This is why, as the New York Philharmonic and Lincoln Center work together to transform David Geffen Hall—the home of New York City’s legendary orchestra—into a world-class concert hall and a major new tourist destination, we are offering a Workforce Development Program for qualifying New Yorkers—especially those who are in our local community or new to the workforce.
The Workforce Development Program includes five weeks of full-time paid training to introduce program participants to the construction industry. Those who successfully complete the program will be offered full-time employment with either Turner or one of Turner’s trade partners.
If you’re interested in a rewarding career in construction, then let’s move forward together to build a stronger community.
We appreciate that dedicating the time to learn new skills is difficult, which is why Turner has streamlined the process. Most importantly, you’re going to get paid $15 an hour to learn the skills necessary to start your career in construction.
If you’re ready to make the commitment, then we’re ready for you!
Program Details
Classes will be held at Lincoln Center’s campus, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, from July 5–August 6, 2021.
Participants will receive a total of 35 hours of instruction per week.
Mentorship
At the start of the program, you will be paired with a mentor from Turner Construction Company who will help you identify and achieve your career goals. Your mentor will act as a valuable academic and practical resource, providing insight into the construction industry to ensure your success.
Modern Classroom Facility, COVID-19 precautions
Classes will be held in-person in a learning facility at Lincoln Center built exclusively for you.
To help guarantee safety in the classroom setting and on the job, we have outfitted the space with air filters, socially distant seating and private desks. Hand sanitizer and masks will be provided, and pre-class temperature checks will be enforced throughout the length of the pandemic.
Learning Materials & Supplies
Access to required materials will not be a barrier to education. You will receive all the learning materials you need to succeed, including a laptop, study guides, and workbooks.
